What is Silverbird?

Not a bank but a financial technology company, we offer accounts and cross-border payments designed for international trade. We are tailored explicitly for distributors, manufacturers, and logistic operators who make transfers on a regular basis.

To open an account with us:

• your company must hold a registration number in your respective jurisdiction;
• you need to be aged 18 or older;
• you need to be an ultimate beneficial owner, a director, or a legal representative of your company.

Is Silverbird a bank?

Silverbird is not a bank. Silverbird is a platform that enables international merchants to open e-wallets, make cross-border payments and currency conversions.

We have two different entities - Silverbird Global Limited (UK) and Silverbird Europe UAB (EU), both registered as agents of Currencycloud in the UK and EEA.

Silverbird Global Limited (UK entity) is an appointed representative of The Currency Cloud Limited. The payment services are provided by The Currency Cloud Limited which is authorised by the FCA under the Electronic Money Regulations 2011 for the issuing of electronic money.

Silverbird Europe UAB (EU entity) is an appointed representative of Currencycloud B.V. Payment services are provided by Currencycloud which is authorised by the De Nederlandsche Bank under the Electronic Money Regulations 2011 for the issuing of electronic money.

How do I get started with Silverbird?

Setting up an account is done entirely online through a fast and intuitive onboarding process — no need to visit a branch or send in paper documents at any stage.

We are using a four-step approach:

1. We verify your basic information.
2. Then we get to know more about your business. At this stage, we aim to understand the nature of your business, how you expect to transact, etc.
3. We verify the identity of account users, directors & UBOs / shareholders.
4. Finally, we’ll ask for certain business documents to be uploaded to verify the information provided.

You will have support available for any questions throughout the application.

Everything is done online and the process is pretty straightforward. You will fill in the online application (which should take around 45 min), then a member of our team will get in touch within a few business days to finalise the process and welcome you onboard.

Are my funds safe?

Yes, your funds are safeguarded with UK and EU banks, following all the requirements and regulations of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA in the UK) or De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB in the Netherlands, EU).

To learn more visit the FCA or DNB website respectively. This means your funds are never moved, invested or lent to anyone else without your instruction. In the unlikely event of Silverbird's bankruptcy, you should get your money back minus the costs of the administrator or liquidator of the firm

We use industry-leading TLS encryption protocols to keep your data safe, as well as two-factor authentication to make sure all the actions on our banking platform are indeed taken by yourself, or an authorised member of your team.

How much does it cost to open an account?

It’s currently Free to open an account with us: no deposit, no monthly payments, no opening or maintenance fees, only direct payments fees. Your payment fees and limits will be determined based on various factors we assess during your application (such as transaction volumes, value of single payments, payment destinations etc.)
