A Bill of Lading (BOL) is a legal document issued by a carrier or shipping company to acknowledge the receipt of goods for transportation. It serves as a contract between the shipper (the person or company sending the goods) and the carrier (the party responsible for transporting the goods).
The bill of lading contains essential information about the shipment, including the type and quantity of goods being transported, the names and addresses of the shipper and the consignee (the recipient of the goods), the origin and destination of the shipment, the agreed-upon terms and conditions of the transportation, and any special instructions or requirements.
